The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced his intention to introduce a draft law on “foreign agents” that is being compared to the Russian counterpart. This law provoked mass protests in Tbilisi. The Georgian Prime Minister plans to have the initiative considered in parliament next week during the third reading, Reuters reports.


According to the head of the Georgian government, the ruling Georgian Dream party will ensure the adoption of the bill in the third reading this week.


At the same time, Kobakhidze warned protesters who oppose the legislative initiative that they will be prosecuted if they “resort to violence.”
