Ukraine calls for faster F-16 pilot training in the US: Politico report

The Ukrainian government is proposing to the United States and other countries to speed up the training of pilots on F-16 fighter jets, as the current mechanisms for training aviators who are to arrive in Ukraine have proven to be insufficient. This information is provided by Politico.

The Ukrainian government reports that 30 pilots are already ready for training in the United States. However, President Joe Biden's administration has reported that the training program in Arizona does not have enough places for more than 12 trainee pilots at a time. Similar problems exist in other institutions in Denmark and Romania.

Ukraine has formally requested that the United States to train additional pilots at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, Arizona. US lawmakers have also pressed the administration to approve additional training.

This summer, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, and Belgium plan to send more than 60 American-made F-16s to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military says that the ability to use more F-16s will help them push Russian forces back from the front lines in cities like Kharkiv. However, the United States believes that the jets will not change the general rules on the battlefield.
