French President Emmanuel Macron said that he is in favor of peace, but peace cannot mean the surrender of Ukraine. Macron said this in an interview with the French media.
At the same time, according to the French president, peace should be achieved through negotiations, the time for which has not yet come, because Russia continues to advance.
Macron also confirmed that Ukraine has the right to strike with French weapons on Russian territory.
When asked by a journalist about his previous comments about the possibility that Ukraine could attack Russians on its territory with French weapons, the French president said that there was no question of strikes on civilians.
“We support the Ukrainians. We allow Ukraine to strike the targets from which the missiles were fired. We forbid hitting civilians with our weapons,” Macron emphasized.
He added that Paris has never gone for escalation and “it was not us who attacked Ukraine.”
“From the first day, the Russians have been threatening. The main thing is that we are not to blame. But we are set up in such a way that we can cope with any risk. We are ready for this,” the French president said.
