No prisoner of war exchanges have taken place for several months: Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of blocking the process

Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of blocking the exchange of prisoners. The exchanges have not taken place for several months.

On May 23, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that Russia is blocking the exchange process.

“We are working hard on the issue of returning our defenders, despite the fact that Russia is blocking this process and refuses to approve the lists we provide to the Russian side for exchanges,” the ombudsman said.

The Russian Federation responded today and said that Kyiv is to blame for the lack of exchanges.

Thus, Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova claims that Ukraine refuses to agree on a list of 500 prisoners whom Moscow wants to return.

“For several months, it has not been possible to get Ukraine to take its prisoners from the exchange. The Ukrainian side was sent a list of 500 servicemen who could return home. However, the military leadership is in no hurry to return them to their families and friends, setting new far-fetched conditions,” Moskalkova said.

According to her, the list was sent to Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
