Blinken supports lifting the ban on strikes on Russia with US weapons after a visit to Kyiv - New York Times

After a trip to Kyiv, US Secretary of State Blinken has become a supporter of lifting the ban on strikes with American weapons on Russia. The New York Times reports this, citing sources.

“Under the leadership of the State Department, the administration is now engaged in a vigorous debate about easing the ban, which allows Ukrainians to strike missile and artillery launch sites just across the border from Russia,” the article says.

But the proposal “is still in its infancy, and it is unclear how many of his colleagues in Biden's inner circle have supported it.”

According to officials, the project has not yet been officially presented to the US president.

“Blinken's position has changed because the Russians have opened a new front in the war, which has led to devastating results,” the publication writes, citing participants in the discussions.
