The USA and Saudi Arabia finalize talks on a peace pact in the Gaza Strip - Reuters

The United States and Saudi Arabia are trying to reach a security agreement in the Gaza Strip, Reuters reports. This strategy, including many obstacles, involves a bilateral peace agreement, which will then become part of a broader package presented to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, the parties are very close to reaching an agreement, and details can be agreed “in a very short time.”

The agreement is expected to include official US guarantees to protect Saudi Arabia, as well as access to modern US weapons in exchange for the cessation of arms purchases from China and restrictions on Beijing's investments.

It is also expected that the agreement will include the exchange of the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence. The terms could be agreed upon within weeks, a US official said on condition of anonymity.

However, Netanyahu may face challenges in committing to a broader agreement, including an end to the war in Gaza and a path to Palestinian statehood.

A normalization agreement would also strengthen Israel's defense capabilities against Iran and provide US President Joe Biden with a diplomatic victory.
