Russia has changed its tactics of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure: it is now targeting TPPs

Russia has changed its tactics in attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure, using high-precision missiles to destroy power plants in less protected regions of the country. TPPs will not be able to be fully restored until next winter. This was stated by DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko in a commentary to the Financial Times.

He noted that if not for the warm weather, energy imports from the EU and increased renewable energy production, Ukraine would have faced massive power outages after the latest attacks, as it happened in 2022-2023.

According to him, last winter Russia attacked mostly distribution stations and transformers across the country. But now Russian missiles are targeting thermal power plants in different regions to "destroy them completely, because it is impossible to restore power plants in a short time."

As a reminder, at the end of March, the largest attack on energy facilities in recent times was carried out.
