After the European Parliament elections in June 2024, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas may become the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, replacing Josep Borrell. This was reported by Politico.

According to the publication, a scenario is being actively discussed on the sidelines in which four women will occupy key EU positions in the summer: Ursula von der Leyen, Roberta Metsola, Mette Frederiksen, and Kaja Kallas.

It is noted that Ursula von der Leyen will remain President of the European Commission, Roberta Metsola will remain Speaker of the European Parliament, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will become the new President of the European Council, and Kaja Kallas will take up the post of High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Thus, the European Commission and the European Parliament will be headed by representatives of the European People's Party. The Socialists will get the European Council, and the Liberals will run the External Action Service, the EU's diplomatic arm, according to the election results, where the EPP and the Social Democratic Party will take first and second place, and the Liberals will take fourth place.
