On Saturday, July 1, quarantine and the state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic will end in Ukraine. It lasted 1193 days.

 This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.

 The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, told the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers that thanks to the implementation of the quarantine, it was possible to establish response mechanisms that came in handy during a full-scale war.

 "Today, our doctors and nurses no less heroically help defenders and civilians in the conditions of a full-scale war. They are once again doing incredible work and demonstrating extraordinary heroism," Shmyhal noted

 At the same time, the Ministry of Health reported that they conducted an audit of the legal framework (in particular, an analysis of the norms in more than 60 laws and 100 resolutions that were introduced and adapted to the pandemic). In addition, thanks to WHO recommendations, COVID-19 has been moved from an emergency to an ongoing public health problem.

 This means that COVID-19 will be part of the cases of influenza and SARS that are registered every year in the autumn and winter period.

 It is also known that by the end of 2024, vaccine deliveries have been confirmed under the international COVAX initiative. Therefore, vaccinations against COVID-19 will remain free and available.

The COVID-19 pandemic

 In March 2020, it became known about the first case of infection with the COVID-19 coronavirus infection. On March 20, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a state of emergency throughout Ukraine.

 Over the course of three years, the quarantine was extended many times, all the while loosening and then tightening the restrictions. As of July 1, 2023, it lasts 1,193 days.

 Later, vaccination against COVID-19 was introduced in Ukraine. During this time, 35 million vaccinations against coronavirus were made in Ukraine.

 According to the WHO, about 20 million people have become victims of the disease over the past three years and several months. More than 6,000 people have died in Ukraine since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

 Cancellation of pandemic status

 It will be recalled that on May 5, 2023, the head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced the end of the emergency situation in the field of public health, which was declared due to the coronavirus infection in March 2020.

 Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko said that the Ministry of Health is considering the possibility of canceling quarantine restrictions. According to him, the authorities have already begun reviewing the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution, according to which quarantine is in force in Ukraine. And soon preparations will begin for the cancellation of this resolution, as it entails not only anti-epidemic restrictions, but also actions related to business entities during quarantine.

 At the same time, quarantine regulations in Ukraine actually stopped being implemented with the start of the war on February 24, 2022.
