UNICEF delivered 100,000 doses of Janssen's vector vaccine against COVID-19 to Ukraine as part of the COVAX initiative, the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health reported.

 "On August 4, 2022, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) delivered 100,000 doses of Janssen (Jcovden) vector vaccine against COVID-19 to Ukraine as part of the COVAX international initiative," the message reads.

 The vaccine was distributed and delivered to 21 regions and the city of Kyiv. In particular, Dnipropetrovsk region received 10,000 doses, Kharkiv region – 6,000, Chernivtsi region – 5,000, Kyiv and Lviv region – 4,000 doses of Janssen vaccine each.

 WHO in Ukraine has trained more than 100 medical workers and trainers from all regions to conduct further cascade trainings on the use of the specified vaccine, the WHO noted.

 Janssen is a vector vaccine developed by Janssen, which is owned by Johnson & Johnson. Has the trade name Jcovden. The vaccine contains a neutralized human adenovirus into which DNA encoding the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has been inserted. It requires a storage temperature of +2 to +8 C. It is intended for people aged 18 and over. In Ukraine, one dose is introduced for the initial course of vaccination.
